About us
Sustainability is a journey, and we’re here to help you on your way.
We specialise in working with fishers, coastal communities, NGOs, and policy makers to achieve their sustainability goals by providing strategic guidance, policy advice and technical support.
With experience working at the intersection of fisheries certification, improvement, governance and co-management, our team offer a unique blend of marine policy and research skills and expertise to achieve your vision for your fishery and community.
Our mission is built on a deep passion for the ocean and a commitment to fostering thriving and sustainable fisheries around the world. We believe that Indigenous people and local communities play a vital role in the care and protection of nature — and that respecting and preserving their rights is fundamental for achieving sustainable outcomes.
Our approach is built on the recognition that each fishery is unique, and we tailor our activities to address the specific goals and challenges of each fishery. We look forward to working with you to create transformative change that benefits both the ocean and local livelihoods.
What is transformative environmental change?
Fishery transformations follow four phases*, with each step bringing you closer to your sustainability goals.
Identify your starting point
We work with you to understand your current performance and challenges.
Clarify your vision
What is it you want to achieve? This could be better practices, improved policies, new management systems or certification.
Navigate the gap
We work alongside you to implement desired changes and keep you moving towards your goals. This is the most challenging — and rewarding — part of the journey.
Make it stick
Keep from backsliding by ensuring changes are formalised in legislation, codes of conduct and ongoing practices.
